WORKSHOP - VISIBLE MENDING & SEWING 101- hosted by Leah Giblin

SUNDAY JULY 24th 2.30pm-5.30pm
59A Erskineville Rd, Erskineville

Did you know many clothes and textiles contain plastic? Join the sustainable fashion movement by learning how to mend your clothes, rather than buying new. With easy techniques and a little time, you can give your clothes a new lease on life and stop them from ending up in landfill.

In this hands-on workshop hosted by Asiki, Leach Giblin of Day Keeper will share her love of mending and show you how simple it is to repair, upcycle and embellish the clothing or textiles that are sitting unused in your wardrobe. She will arm you with practical, creative solutions for caring for your clothes, as well as visible mending techniques, patching, darning and upcycling methods.

You will leave with the confidence to fix or update your clothing and the inspiration to wear your mended clothes with pride.

It’s never been a more important time to help stop the damaging environmental impacts of fast fashion. These simple, creative skills will make you more resourceful, less wasteful and save you money.

There will be afternoon tea, plenty of sewing and lots of advice on how to tackle your personal projects at home.

Please Bring;
· An embroidery hoop and a small sewing kit if you have one (if you don’t, tools will be provided)
· Interesting fabric scraps you would like to patch with
